Hosting Beetham Tower run for The Christie

We recently supported The Christie Charitable Foundation to facilitate the hosting of a charity tower run at Beetham Tower in Manchester in collaboration with the Hilton Manchester Deansgate hotel.

The Christie Charitable Fund supports cancer patients at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester through the funding of numerous hospital services that extend those typically provided by the NHS. These include the running of cancer information centres, wig fitting services, art rooms, and complementary therapy. Money is also being raised to support the development of a £26 million cancer centre in Macclesfield, as well as for a new 4D CT scanner for the hospital’s radiology department.

On the 10th of April, around 175 runners arrived at Beetham Tower to take part in the event. Donning blue Christie’s t-shirts and vests, participants were invited to a pre-event warm-up hosted by Pure Gym Market Street in the Hilton. The runners then came around to the residential part of the building to set off in waves on the long journey up 798 steps to the 46th floor. Using timing chips supplied by TDL Event Services, participants were able to see how long the ascend had taken them. The fastest time record was set at the first event in 2017, and stands at 4 minutes and 17 seconds. All finishers received a medal provided by The Christie.

Following the event, a post-event celebratory drinks and network event was hosted in the Hilton’s Cloud 23 sky bar, with Salford University on hand to provide well-deserved sports massages.

The Christie’s Tower Run has been hosted at Beetham Tower for four years since 2017. Over the years, a combined total of almost £250,000 has been raised for the charity so far. To keep up to date with our fundraising news, follow us on LinkedIn.
