At The Property Institute’s annual ACE Awards ceremony in London, we were recently presented with the prestigious Resident Engagement Initiative of the Year award. Having secured the same accolade during its inaugural year in 2024, we are proud to have repeated this achievement.
Hosted at London’s Old Billingsgate market, the ACE Awards recognises the very best in the property management sector and brings together a range of managing agents, developers and industry suppliers for a night of reflection and celebration.
Richard Daver, Co-CEO at Rendall & Rittner comments: “Winning the Resident Engagement Initiative award reflects the dedication of our people in enhancing the experience of our residents and strengthening the sense of community at developments across our portfolio. The award acknowledges the dedication of our teams in delivering a diverse calendar of activities and events, as well as our engagement with residents on key topics including building safety, façade remediation and the cost of living.”
Receiving the Resident Engagement Initiative Award highlights the work our people put in throughout the year. Led by our dedicated Community Engagement Manager, and supported by our Operations team and on-site teams, we deliver a comprehensive programme of on-site events. These have ranged from simple summer drinks parties to more complex partnership events such as the F1 simulator events we have delivered alongside Sky, but all aim to boost resident engagement and community spirit. The Residents Club, an initiative unique to Rendall & Rittner, delivers further opportunities for our London residents to enjoy the best of the city, whether taking advantage of exclusive offers or organising trips to popular theatre shows.
As well as benefitting residents, our work often looks to consider the wider impact upon the broader community or to enhance sustainability. This also allows us to support developers in achieving their social value commitments and delivering long-term, meaningful outcomes. We are delivering White Rose collection banks at an increasing number of our developments, encouraging residents to donate their unwanted clothes rather than sending them to landfill. In 2024, this saw 68,719kg of unwanted clothes collected, raising c.£339,557 for the Aegis Trust and resulting in 221,581kg of CO2 emissions being offset. We have also collected abandoned bikes. Not only does this improve the appearance of developments, but the bikes are donated to Recycle your Cycle. The organisation supports ex-prisoner rehabilitation whilst refurbishing the bikes so they can then be sold on for charity.
Marc Gomes, Community Engagement Manager at Rendall & Rittner comments: “We are always looking for new opportunities to involve the wider community in our work. Our summer markets, for example, have proven popular with residents and allow us to create a mutually beneficial relationship with local food and artisan suppliers. Our residents can enjoy amazing produce right on their doorsteps, knowing that they are supporting local businesses.”
Delivering comprehensive resident engagement is about more than just event management, but also about communicating effectively on key issues that have a real impact on residents’ lives. Safety is a priority for us, and our dedicated Health & Safety team communicate with residents on a range of fire safety and Building Safety Act related topics. Regular information is disseminated via broadcasts, factsheets and in residents’ newsletters, providing updated information on the evolving legislation. Where façade remediation projects are taking place, we provide development specific progress updates and can host face-to-face meetings with residents as needed.
Ultimately, our purpose as a managing agent is to facilitate truly connected communities, where residents are proud to live and feel invested in its future. At several of our schemes this has been showcased as we have seen residents take ownership of events, organising their own activities from gardening clubs to cinema nights. We are proud of the works that our teams have taken in developing a robust community engagement strategy that empowers residents and establishes long-lasting connections.
