Marc Gomes joined Rendall & Rittner in 2012 as a Concierge, progressing over time to an Estate Manager. Today, Marc is a Senior Operations Manager and a key member of our Community Engagement Team, combining his operational experience with a passion for bringing people together and creating stronger communities.
We spoke to Marc to find out more about his role, his career journey and some of the initiatives he is most proud of.
What is your role at Rendall & Rittner?
My role is very varied. As a Senior Operations Manager, I support the operational performance of a number of our developments, working closely with Estate Managers, on-site teams and Property Managers to maintain standards and deliver a great experience for our customers.
Alongside this, I am part of our Community Engagement Team, helping to develop and deliver community strategies across both new and existing developments. This involves everything from creating community engagement plans and organising events to sourcing suppliers, securing sponsorship and ensuring the appropriate risk assessments, licences and food hygiene requirements are in place.
Could you share an example of an event or initiative that you are particularly proud of?
I’m particularly proud of our support for charitable and sustainability initiatives. Through our partnership with White Rose, our on-site clothing banks have helped raise over £1 million for the charity, while also making it easier for residents to donate unwanted clothing and give items a second life. Every year, our residents and on-site teams also get behind the Christmas gift appeal for Great Ormond Street Hospital. It’s always fantastic to see so many developments working together for such an important cause.
I’m also proud of the opportunities we create for residents to connect with one another. Food is a great way of bringing people together, so we have introduced regular rotating food markets at developments where similar facilities may not already exist within the immediate community. Another highlight has been our Planting Positivity initiative. This relatively simple idea brought together more than 300 residents to plant bulbs around their developments. Encouraging neighbours to come together, the initiative left a lasting legacy when the flower blooms appeared later in the year.
What do you like most about your job?
A significant part of the role is also about building relationships. I regularly meet with key stakeholders, including clients, residents, local councils, charities, community organisations and suppliers, to explore opportunities to add value to the communities we manage.
I’ve always loved customer service, and for me the relationship side of property management is incredibly important. I try to attend as many of our community events as possible because I enjoy being a familiar face on-site, speaking with residents and seeing first-hand how people respond to the initiatives we introduce.
One of the most rewarding things is seeing residents begin to take ownership of their own communities. At The Chain, for example, residents took the lead in organising their own summer party with support from our Operations Team. That is exactly what successful community engagement should encourage – giving people the confidence and opportunity to create something for their own community.
What are you most looking forward to?
As we approach the end of 2026, I’m looking forward to another busy festive period and, in particular, running our Great Ormond Street Hospital Christmas gift appeal again.
I’m also looking forward to seeing how some of the initiatives we have introduced this year continue to develop. Community engagement is always evolving, and there are constantly new opportunities to work with our residents, teams, charities, councils and local partners.
