Rendall & Rittner strengthens green commitment with the help of Ecotricity

Ecotricity Somerton Landscape 900X675

We are proud to have recently partnered with Britain’s greenest energy provider, Ecotricity, to supply over 93% of our property portfolio with 100% renewable electricity. As a company, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways in which we can help the environment, so partnering with the world’s first green energy supplier, Ecotricity, was a no brainer for us.

Ecotricity was founded by Dale Vince, OBE, in 1995 and has set itself a challenge to be totally carbon free by 2025. The business is continually investing in the construction of wind turbines and solar parks, enabling them to produce 25% of the green electricity they supply to customers. Additionally, the company is registered with The Vegan Society ensuring that all of the energy sources that go into making their electricity and gas have been verified, confirming that no animal by products are used in energy production.

Ecotricity produces renewable green electricity using power from the wind, the sun and the sea and more recently Green Gasmills, enabling them to generate vegan green gas from grass. It is now said that renewable energy sources provide 20% of the UK generation, a big change from 2013 when only 14.9% was from renewables and this figure is expected to rise to 30% by 2020. We are thrilled to be joining the growing number of consumers choosing to change their energy supplier in a bid to tackle climate change.

The environment is a key priority for us here at Rendall & Rittner so partnering with a renewable energy company was the obvious next step for us. Earlier this year we carried out a bulk procurement initiative to purchase £11 million worth of electricity and Ecotricity was the lowest competitive tender, enabling us to provide 100% green electricity to 80% of our buildings. This partnership will supply green electricity to all communal spaces further cementing our commitment to providing sustainable and, eco-friendly management practices for our clients and residents, which are also cost effective.

Catherine Riva, Director at Rendall & Rittner comments: “We are pleased to take the next step in making our properties more environmentally friendly. We chose to partner with Ecotricity to ensure that the electricity provided to our developments is as eco-friendly as possible, while also providing a reliable and economical service to our residents and customers.”

Paul Sands, Growth Director at Ecotricity, added: “One of the easiest things we can all do to fight climate change is making the switch to renewable energy – so it’s fantastic that Rendall & Rittner has taken this very important step. The UN recently said we have less than 12 years to save the planet, so it’s time we all step up and do what we can.”
