This week is National Careers Week, an event focused on providing inspiring career guidance to young people as they consider potential future career opportunities. For students keen to pursue a rewarding, exciting, and progressive career, property management can provide a variety of intriguing possibilities.

At Rendall & Rittner, we accept applications from anyone aligned with our core values, whether they already have extensive experience in the industry or are looking to kickstart their career. Our graduate scheme is a two-year programme that combines on-the-job experience with professional training resulting in a Level 4 industry recognised qualification in property management.

Professional and personal growth are deeply embedded in our culture, and we are fully committed to ensuring all our employees have opportunities to learn, develop, and progress. Our investment starts right from day one, through our informative induction programme.

Our people are essential to everything we do and we therefore understand the value of supporting our teams to flourish and grow. Our extensive training programmes have helped us achieve Investors in People Platinum status, placing us in the top 2% of employers internationally. Our investment includes substantive in-house training programmes as well as supporting our employees to pursue and obtain nationally recognised qualifications. In 2023, we had 5,715 face-to-face attendees across 829 training events, as well as 24,469 eLearning modules completed!

We have recently developed our Leadership Development Programme and have rolled this out to all of our managers. Providing a multi-faceted approach to learning, these programmes blend workshops, action learning sets, eLearning, and on-the-job application to help cement a consistent approach to our leadership principles.

James Mattocks, Area Director, explains: “I have been really impressed with the new training offered to Managers. The training is informative, varied and most importantly very interactive. The course provides us with realistic tools to achieve better results.”

We are also busy creating and implementing R & R Academies.  These academies are designed to help our employees unlock their potential and enhance their skills. Each academy will be targeted to a person’s job role, ensuring the training is relevant and accessible. The learning available through the academies is also aligned to achieving relevant professional qualifications, further supporting career progression.

In addition to in-person training courses, we have been developing opportunities for more flexible learning through our Learning Management System, ‘Engage in Learning’, which is accessible to all employees. This eLearning platform covers a variety of essential compliance topics as well as bookable courses, creating a comprehensive system for learning and development across a broad range of subjects.

Discussing how the training offered by Rendall & Rittner has impacted him, Dean Thompson, New Business Set-up Manager, comments: “The impact the training has had on me and on my environment is that I am more opened minded to suggestions and solutions.”
