For the latest instalment in our 60-second blog series, we sat down with our Head of Marketing and Communications, Guy Lambert.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Usually the alarm clock! In reality, having a really good job with R&R and a fantastic family – they are my main motivators – that and coffee!
What do you like most about your job?
I love that it’s a new role so it’s a blank canvas in a number of ways, but there are some big immediate priorities for me to focus on – a perfect mix really! I’ve also come into a very welcoming environment at R&R with some great colleagues who are open and honest.
What made you pursue this career?
I’ve been in property almost all my working life and property management is another major facet of it. Marketing and Comms is something I really enjoy and a great fit for my personality.
Who inspires you?
At work my main inspiration is Alan Cherry the founder of Countryside. He was a brilliant people person, very giving of his time to everyone, had great vision for the way homes and places should be planned and built, was 10+ years ahead on sustainability and considered everyone as important as each other to the success of his company. He treated the cleaners the same as he did his MDs! I love that R&R's founders Duncan and Matt are still so central to the company and its values.
Personally, great people and musicians like Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Paul Weller and Curtis Mayfield. Curtis was a man of immense mental fortitude and he was the calmest, most peaceful of beings. He came from nothing. Seeing him in concert was one of the great joys of my life! I’ve also been reading about the Paralympian Bibian Mentel-Spee who was amazing too!
What are you most proud of?
My two sons who are now 17 and 15. Both great young men. They are very different, but a joy to be around!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
All the simple things like being with my family and friends. That and enjoying great music, food and wine, oh and playing tennis badly!
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Having a big family holiday this summer. Originally it was going to be in 2020, then 2021, but it’s going to happen this year! That and really making a difference at R&R.
